Councillor Brenda Locke

I have lived in Surrey for 39 years. As a family we have participated in much of what Surrey has to offer, from its natural beauty in our parks, to our sports and recreational facilities, as well as arts and cultural opportunities.

As a strong community advocate, I have volunteered in many capacities including with Surrey Urban Mission, an organization that works to assist those in need.

In my work life, I have a proven track record of developing strategic partnerships and building bridges between organizations. As an MLA and provincial Cabinet Minister, I worked to bring SFU as well as the RCMP ā€œEā€ Division to Surrey. During my 25 years of experience as an Executive Director I advanced high-profile issues working with various levels of government, non-profit agencies and the business community.

Key Projects

Surrey is a mosaic of communities, families, diversity and amazing potential. Citizens care about one another and they care about their neighbourhoods. We need City Hall to care about those things too, and we certainly want to be safe in our own city. Growth in Surrey has been exponential, leaving too many people behind, feeling marginalized and ignored. Community, Sport, Service and Faith groups, who contribute so much to the fabric of our city, are also challenged from fully participating in the community.

I want City Hall to respond to every resident in a fair, open and transparent manner. I strongly believe that Surrey has the potential to be a model community celebrating diversity and initiative. Surrey is a city full of promise, a city that cares about its residents and embraces quality of life for everyone.
