Ravine Stability Assessment Work

The City of Surrey is undertaking its city-wide review of slope failure and landslide risk. This work is weather-dependent and is estimated to be completed by the end of May 2019. During this time, representatives of the City’s consultant (Associated Engineering) may require access through private property to safely complete inspections.

All field staff working on this project will carry photo identification and provide an information letter from the City. Residents who see individuals in or near their property are encouraged to ask for these documents.

Completed every two years, this assessment inspects all ravine slopes and channel banks along Surrey’s various watercourses in order to proactively mitigate any slope stability concerns. All erosion zones are documented and classified. Any sites assessed with significant erosion will be further examined by a Professional Engineer who will recommend remedial actions to be undertaken.

We appreciate your co-operation in allowing work crews to enter your property in order to complete this study.

Steep slopes pose challenges for all of us. Learn about the property care responsibilities for ravine and bluff side residents.
