Surrey Celebrates BC Seniors Week with Virtual Activities and Programs

May 27, 2020

Surrey, BC — Providing Surrey seniors with online celebratory and interactive activities is the focus for Surrey’s BC Seniors Week (June 1–8) this year. City of Surrey will host over 15 free activities and events online and by phone to celebrate seniors and promote the importance of maintaining social connections while practicing physical distancing.

“With the physical distancing measures in place resulting from COVID-19, our city staff are continuously working to find innovative ways to keep our seniors engaged in the community. Surrey’s seniors will be able to participate, engage and connect during BC Seniors Week through the diverse online programming we are offering this year,” said Mayor Doug McCallum. “Keeping our seniors active, healthy and connected through recreational, arts and culture programming has always been and will always be a key priority for our city.”

BC Seniors Week is an annual celebration to acknowledge and celebrate the integral role seniors play in communities across British Columbia. City of Surrey will host a series of free, live registered programs and webinars, plus a variety of pre-taped activities, including:
