Information Technology

The Information Technology (“IT”) division partners internally across City business units to provide innovative technology solutions for the purpose of: 1. enabling superior productivity of staff internally and 2. ensuring the delivery of excellent service externally to City customers and stakeholders. The division’s governance is aligned with the strategic objectives of the City, and its activities are directed by best practices in enterprise architecture principles, sustainability, and sound project and financial management.

Information Technology comprises the following three business areas:

Application Services

Application Sevices is responsible for delivering innovative technology solutions, enabling the City to meet business area and corporate objectives. This includes application deployment, maintenance, and support.

Business Solutions Services

Business Solutions Sevices provides business and technology planning expertise across the organization to facilitate busines process improvements, both on internally-facing initiatives to improve staff productivity, and externally-facing solutions to better serve our customers. This area is also responsible for the coordination and delivery of first-level IT support services.

Infrastructure Services

Infrastructure Services is responsible for the continued effective operation of the City's IT infrastructure.This includes the support, maintenance and management of:

  • the wide and local area data networks
  • telephone systems and voice network
  • computer processing platforms used by corporate information systems
  • security firewalls
  • virus detection
  • system management applications
  • enterprise wide data backup/recovery
  • electronic storage management
