The General Manager, Policing Transition is responsible for developing and implementing a transition plan to establish a new Surrey municipal police service. This department brings City resources together with our partners to ensure the successful transition to a Surrey municipal police service that enhances safety and wellbeing for our citizens.
The Policing Transition team works collaboratively with staff across all departments to develop and implement the plan to establish a new Surrey municipal police service. Staff from city departments are selected to support the transition process and work in a cross-functional team to deliver the project. The Policing Transition is supported by an Internal Management Committee made up of General Managers from key departments.
RCMP Support Services
The City of Surrey currently contracts policing services from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). As part of this contract, the City provides support services through municipal employees that administer police systems, provide analytical and strategic support, and manage equipment and vehicle fleets.
The RCMP Support Services Division is responsible for providing support to the operations of the RCMP members in the Surrey detachments and is part of the Policing Transition Department.
