Did you know? 50 cm (about 1.5 feet) is the expected sea level rise over the next 50-years in Surrey, impacting about 20% of Surrey’s land area.

Moving toward a Coastal Flood Adaptation Strategy

To prepare our coastal communities for the future, Surrey is developing a Coastal Flood Adaptation Strategy CFAS study location map(CFAS). The three-year project builds on recent and ongoing work we have undertaken in Surrey’s coastal floodplain area, which is shown on the map.

On April 26th, meet the team we have working on the project and learn more about this important project, including:

  • Sea level rise and coastal flooding scenarios we will have to cope with in coming years
  • Potential approaches to better manage coastal flooding in the future
  • What flooding concerns residents, farmers, business owners, Semiahmoo First Nation, and others have told us so far
  • View submissions for our #SurreyCoastal photo contest

Learning from international experts!

Come and meet a team of Dutch experts on coastal flood adaptation who will be visiting our study area.  Representatives from the Vancouver Office of the Consulate General of the Netherlands will also be participating.

Can’t attend in person? Watch our project website for updates & materials.  For more information, please contact Matt Osler at 604-591-4657 or
