The Mayor’s Award for Fostering Civic Responsibility recognizes an agency, school, or program that has gone above and beyond in making a significant and positive impact in our community by fostering civic responsibility in Surrey’s children and youth.

In 2018, the inaugural award was presented to L.A. Matheson’s Mustang Justice Program. Read the media release announcing the winners.

“The Mayor’s Annual Award for Fostering Civic Responsibility recognizes those that play a role in creating a City built on the values of respect, cooperation and citizenship. By recognizing and supporting those who have positively engaged our youth, we are ensuring that community and civic responsibility are core values to be encouraged and celebrated in Surrey.” - Mayor Linda Hepner

The Mayor’s Award for Fostering Civic Responsibility is part of the Mayor's Action Plan on Gang Violence Prevention, a key initiative under the City of Surrey’s Public Safety Strategy.
