SAFE Community Clinical Counselling
Find out more about the SAFE Community Clinical Counselling services designed to provide counselling supports for at-risk children, youth and their families.
Simon Fraser University and DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society partner to provide the SAFE Community Clinical Counselling program to children, youth, and their families in the Surrey area who are vulnerable to gang involvement and are displaying risk factors.
To reflect and support diverse needs, culturally sensitive counselling can be provided in English, Punjabi, and Arabic with services sometimes available in additional languages.
Counsellors will work one-on-one, as well as in groups with youth and their parents or caregivers, to increase confidence, self-esteem and connections to family, culture and community.
Services are based on referrals for children, youth and families with gang involvement or who are at risk for gang involvement. Services include risk assessment, case management and consultation.
Location
This program is primarily delivered at the DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society’s Community Campus - 13455 76 Avenue, Surrey, with some services provided at SFU Surrey Counselling Centre.
Office hours
Office hours vary based on client need. Generally, counselling services are available Sunday to Thursday from 9:00 am to 8 pm.
