Host a Neighbourhood Clean-Up

Neighbourhood Clean-Ups are a year-round opportunity to work in partnership with the City to make your neighbourhood cleaner, greener and healthier! This program is available to all residents, businesses and schools.

The City will support residents and businesses in their efforts by picking up large and hazardous items, and arranging for the quick pick-up of any collected litter.  We will also provide you clean-up packages that include gloves, litter pickers, bags and promotional brochures.

Successful Clean-Up project achievements will be recognized on the City’s website and social media. Follow along with #LoveWhereYouLive!

Getting Started

To host a Neighbourhood Clean-up, email lovewhereyoulive@surrey.ca with:

  • Your date, time and area
  • Your planned out routes
  • How many litter pickers, gloves, and bags you will need

We will arrange for pickup of materials from the Surrey Operations Centre at 6651 148 Street.

During your Clean-Up

  • Distribute your supplies
  • Let everyone know the safety precautions
  • Record large items, graffiti, hazardous waste and needles

Arranging Pick-Up

Arrange for all the trash you collected to be picked up by phoning 604-591-4152 or using the Surrey Request App.

A City crew will collect the items as soon as possible.

  • Litter Bags: Leave bags next to sidewalks when full, and record their location.
  • Large Items: Record the location of items that do not fit in bags, or are not safe to move, such as mattresses, appliances, and car parts, etc.
  • Hazardous Waste: Record the location of hazardous waste, or items you do not feel safe handling, such as needles, glass, etc. Do not put sharp items or needles in bags.
  • Graffiti: Record the location. A City crew will come to remove the graffiti as soon as possible.
