New Supportive Housing

Learn about various supportive housing initiatives for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness.

As part of its response to homelessness, the federal and provincial governments have committed to creating new supportive housing units in Surrey.

The units address the urgent need for housing with support for people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. Surrey is in a housing crisis and more than 600 people across the city are experiencing homelessness.

The City is partnering with the Province of BC, the Government of Canada and non-profit housing providers to develop several new supportive housing projects.

New Projects

Supportive Housing & Shelter Projects

In 2022, five new supportive housing and shelter projects opened, providing a total of 313 new homes or beds for people who are experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness:

  • Foxglove (9810 Foxglove Drive): 100 studio apartments (66 supportive housing units and 34 enhanced complex care units) and 30 single bedrooms (transitional/shelter rooms). Operated by Raincity Housing.
  • Little's Place Too (9151 King George Boulevard): 44 supportive housing units for women. Operated by Atira.
  • Elmbrook (13939 104 Avenue): 26 supportive housing units. Owned by BC Housing, and operated by Connective. 
  • Rosewood (9683 137 Street): 40 shelter beds and 57 apartment units for women and children; 15 of the apartments will be for young Indigenous females. Operated by Elizabeth Fry.

    In 2023, two new supportive housing projects are under development, providing a total of 90 new homes or beds for people who are experiencing homelessness or at-risk of homelessness: 

          • Safe Sleep (13425/13455 107A Ave): 60 supportive housing units. The non-profit operator has not yet been announced. 

            About Supportive Housing

            The new supportive housing will include various amenities and services, such as:

            • Supports on-site to ensure people can achieve and maintain housing stability
            • Shared amenity space
            • Staff on-site 24/7
            • Daily meals
            • Life-skills training
            • Access to health services
