Swimming Safety

Our goal is to make children comfortable in the water in a safe and fun environment. Working in partnership with the Lifesaving Society of British Columbiaour lifeguards help kids improve their comfort in the water with swimming lessons. We also offer free swimming lessons at our indoor pools with the price of leisure swim admission all year round. Please register up to 30 minutes prior at the front desk.

Pool Chemistry & Filtration

All City of Surrey indoor pools are chemically treated and filtered to ensure clean water and to maximize bather comfort. We work closely with the Ministry of Health to ensure all indoor pools follow the BC Health Act  and the BC Guidelines for Pool Operations. All of City of Surrey indoor pools maintain a chlorine residual as required by the BC Health Act, and all pools are equipped with an Ultraviolet pool sanitization system for secondary disinfection. pH levels for all pools are maintained between 7.3 and 7.7.

South Surrey Indoor Pool and Surrey Sport and Leisure Complex use rapid sand filtration. North Surrey Recreation Centre uses a diatomaceous earth filter system, and the Newton Recreation Centre, Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre and the Guildford Recreation Centre all use a high-efficiency regenerative media filter system.

For more information, please speak to an Aquatic Coordinator at any of our facilities.
