Fleetwood Reservoir and Watermain Project Update

Metro Vancouver and the City of Surrey are planning a large underground water reservoir in Meagan Anne MacDougall Park. This will include the construction of an underground water storage chamber, an access building and water pumping facilities.

Following the construction of the reservoir, the park will be restored, including the construction of a new playground, pathways and seating areas. An open house was hosted in early 2016 to share information on the project, and to gather feedback from the community.

Review the Open House Information Boards and Park Concept Plan for more information.

A second open house to share project updates took place in fall 2019. See the Metro Vancouver Fact Sheet.

Project Timeline

  • Reservoir construction is starting mid-2020 and will last about two years.
  • Water main construction is starting during reservoir construction and will last about one year.

About Meagan Anne MacDougall Park

Meagan Anne MacDougall Park is a neighbourhood park in Northwest Fleetwood. This park has large, open green spaces for tossing around a frisbee or kicking a soccer ball. The park has lots of shade trees, ideal for picnic spots in the summer. The park also has a tot lot playground in the middle of the park for the kids.

Meagan Anne MacDougall Park is home to Multiples of Three, a distinctive landscape sculpture of steel shapes. The shapes look like large geometric jigsaw pieces that are welded into 3 groups, and aligned asymmetrically along a base of granite.
