Host an Event in a Park
Surrey has some of the most beautiful parks in the lower mainland. Whether you want to enjoy a summer picnic, have a small wedding ceremony in a park, or host an event for hundreds of people, we're happy to help you plan your next event in a City park.
Start off by determining if you need to contact the City before proceeding with your event. Depending on how many people you'll be hosting, there are different steps to follow.
When to Contact the City About Your Park Event
- Less than 100 people, no special services: You can host an event on a first-come, first-serve basis without notifying the city.
- Less than 100 people, with special services: You can host an event on a first-come, first-serve basis but you must notify the City as an approval letter may be required.
- Between 100 and 250 people, with or without special services: You can host an event on a first-come, first-serve basis but you must notify the City as an approval letter may be required.
- More than 250 people: A permit is required. You must fill out a Community Event Hosting Application.
To notify the City of your event, call 604-501-5050 or partnersinparks@surrey.ca. Please note that due to a large number of park use inquiries, staff response time is currently about 7 days. Thank you for your patience.
Food, Entertainment or Services at Your Event
If you are hiring someone to provide a service (generally food or entertainment) at your event, you must provide the following on behalf of the vendors you’ve hired:
- $5,000,000 liability insurance that names the City of Surrey as an additional insured. Insurance should note the name of the park your event is at but should be issued to City of Surrey
- A City of Surrey Business License
- A completed Hold Harmless Agreement
Examples of services or vendors often hired for parks events include, but are not limited to: bouncy castles, photo booths, face painting, magicians, catering and food trucks.
Event organizers can submit all necessary documents to partnersinparks@surrey.ca or contact 604-501-5050.
