School Program at the Surrey Nature Centre

Discover opportunities to get outdoors, have fun and learn about nature. Increase your sense of pride in your community and help enhance Surrey’s parks and natural environment by joining one of the following Parks Programs.

Explore and learn about Surrey's natural environment during the annual Environmental Extravaganza.

Local Park Projects

Explore some of our amazing Nature Trails in parks right near your school, or join us for an hands-on group project or program such as Releaf tree planting or Lend a Hand park cleanups.

Surrey Nature Centre Programs

Take your Kindergarten to Grade 7 students on a curriculum-linked nature exploration field trip with the Surrey Nature Centre.

Salmon Marshals

For projects involving fish habitat, students and teachers are encouraged to check out the Salmon Marshal Program.

Student Employment Opportunities

Interested in working as a Park Programs Leader or Assistant? Both the Bear Creek and Park Play Programs above employ post-secondary students from June to August every year. Please check career opportunities in December/January for more information.


The Salmon Habitat Restoration Program (SHaRP) and Surrey's Natural Areas Partnership (SNAP) are youth environmental programs devoted to the restoration of natural areas in Surrey and the promotion of environmental stewardship and sustainability.

The programs employ post-secondary and high school students throughout the summer months. SHaRP focuses on aquatic areas and enhancing salmon habitat, while SNAP focuses on restoring natural areas in parks.

Sign up Your Classes or School Clubs

Sign up your classes or school clubs for a free, hands-on, community-based project such as Lend-a-Hand. Students will learn about the value of social responsibility, volunteering, and stewardship by helping to keep their neighbouthood park clean during the school year. Groups commit to volunteering a minimum of once a month (or more!) in a nearby park. Training and all tools are provided.
