Public art has the power to activate our cities, inspire our thinking, and transform the places where we live, work, and play into more welcoming and beautiful environments that invite interactions.

As part of the SAGA Thursday Artist Talk series at Surrey Art Gallery, join Hossam Meawad, City of Surrey Public Art Coordinator, to learn about the City of Surrey’s Public Art Program.

Did you know Surrey has over 70 public artworks? In this illustrated talk, Hossam will introduce you to several of them, highlighting different types of artwork from paintings and murals to monumental sculptures and light-based artwork. You’ll learn about Surrey’s Public Art Program, including how Surrey residents are involved in the selection process and why artworks are chosen for certain places.

There will be time for questions and conversation during and following the talk. The event concludes by 9pm. Refreshments are provided. This event is presented by the Surrey Art Gallery Association in partnership with Surrey Art Gallery, and with support from the Arts Council of Surrey.
