Diverse Francophones

The latest Community Treasures focuses on Surrey’s Mauritian and Haitian francophone communities.

Check out this new exhibit featuring objects and photos from Mauritius and Haiti with both French and English labels. This unique cultural showcase is part of the museum's Community Treasures exhibit series.

Diverse Francophones was curated by the Canadian Haitian Cultural Association of BC and the Mauritian Canadian Multicultural Association of British Columbia.

BC is home to the fourth largest Francophone community in Canada, with over 300,000 French speakers, including those for whom French is not their first language.
