The Cerebral Palsy Association of BC is proud to host this workshop series, entitled Mental Health in the Workplace: Rights and Responsibilities of Youth with Disabilities. The workshops will be facilitated by two lawyers.

Topics will include:

  • Human Rights basics and the “duty to accommodate” in the workplace
  • Employee and employer responsibilities around mental health in the workplace
  • Requests for medical information including mental health status
  • Considering mental health as an employer, for those enrolled in the Community Supports for Independent Living (CSIL) program

Dates & Times

The workshops will be taking place on April 26, May 24, June 21, and July 26 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at Surrey City Hall. Attendees are encouraged to attend all four sessions in the series. Light snacks will be provided.

We’ve held these workshops a few times before in neighboring communities and they have always been very successful with a flood of valuable information.

We invite youth with disabilities, employers seeking knowledge with this topic, crim/law students or anyone who may benefit from learning about the correct procedures with the rights and responsibilities of employers and employees.

We find that it is absolutely crucial for all parties to know what the ‘duty to accommodate’ truly means and this series of workshops is a great way to learn all about it in four short sessions.

Workshops are free, but pre-registration is required. To register, please contact Denzil Muncherji at or 604-408-9484.
