Repair items, save money, and learn something new!

As a part of the City’s Love Where You Live initiative to create a cleaner, greener and healthier community, the Engineering Operations: Solid Waste team and Surrey Libraries have partnered to host our inaugural Repair Café at the City Centre Library. Give your broken household items a new lease on life after a simple repair.

This is a free, family-friendly event. We will supply the space, tools and experts to help you repair your – bike, jewellery, toaster, computer, clothes and more! The Repair Café brings together people with items to fix and volunteers with repair expertise. Simply bring us your items and a desire to learn. Our repair experts include: Repair Matters, the PEDAL Society, HUB Cycling, FreeGeek Vancouver and Frameworq Textiles.

Why Repair?

Thousands of ripped or worn-out textiles, broken computers, small electronics and appliances are thrown away every year. Counter this throwaway culture, save your money, and learn something new. Join the worldwide movement to foster a culture of repair, community-building, and knowledge-sharing.

How to Participate

Come and learn at our Recycle It! and Learning Hub stations, or register to get your broken items fixed. To register online, go to the Repair Café online registration page and use the registration numbers below.

Spaces are limited. On event day you can get help fixing a maximum of 3 items, but you must stay with the fix-it experts. No drop offs. Item(s) must be reasonably sized and able to be carried to the event.
