About the Photo Above

Mrs. Beveridge clearing Surrey land in 1918. Arriving in Surrey was only one of the obstacles that faced newcomers. Intensive manual labour was required to set up and maintain a homestead. Pioneer women played a large role in establishing a life in the wilderness. Reference: Surrey Archives F8301100066.
