About COVID-19 Women’s Initiative

COVID-19 Women’s Initiative (CWI) is a non-profit, student-led organization of medical students, physicians, and community members across Canada. This initiative was founded by two medical students in Toronto who recognized a need to help women who are in challenging circumstances as a result of COVID-19. Since starting in Toronto, CWI has spread to five Canadian cities, including Vancouver, and has gained over 200 volunteers, most of whom are medical students. CWI is helping to mitigate the challenges faced by women by raising awareness of these issues, as well as fundraising for local shelters, and providing education and support to women and their children.
