$4.75 per person. Free with an annual Recreation Pass or Family Fun Pass.
Rent skates for $3.50 and a helmet for $1.75 when you arrive. High demand is anticipated, so bring your own equipment if you have them.
It's that time of year again where Cloverdale Arena transforms into a winter wonderland with festive lights, decorations and music! This popular, traditional event is the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit with your friends and family.
Sign up 72 hours in advance
Early sign up opens 72 hours in advance of skating session times. Participants must register at least one hour in advance of their desired session time to secure their spot.
Each participant must sign up for a spot to be guaranteed entry.

The winner will be announced on January 8, 2024, and must be able to pick up their prize at Cloverdale Arena (6090 176 Street).

What to expect when you arrive
- Arrive early to complete the check in process. Doors will open 30 minutes before your session start time. Spot(s) will be held for 30 minutes after your session start time.
- Dress for the weather as the check-in process is outside.
- A staff member will verify your registration and give you a wristband.
- Go to the skate shop to rent skates and/or a helmet (if needed).
- Lace up your skates, put on your gear, and get ready to skate!
- After 90 minutes when your session is over, please exit promptly so the next session can enter.
- Remove your equipment, return your rentals (if needed), and exit the building.
Important information
For your safety
- Doors will open 30 minutes before each session's scheduled start time to facilitate ice resurfacing, equipment rental restocking and disinfection, and adequate cleaning of the arena.
- Helmets are mandatory for children ages 12 and under. Although, we highly encourage people of all ages to wear one.
- Leave your valuables at home. Cubbies are available to store shoes and other small items during sessions.
- A limited number of skating aids will be available for those that wish to use them.
- Family and friends are permitted to watch (no registration or payment required).
Use Your Family Fun Pass
If you purchase a Family Fun Pass before December 18, you will be required to pay upfront for your Winter Ice Palace skating session before December 18 (as your pass is not active until December 23). However, you are eligible to have your registration fee refunded by a recreation facility front desk staff member any time after December 18.
Don't waste your space
With limited capacity and no waitlist available, please cancel your booking if you cannot attend, so that others may participate. Cancel your booking by calling 604-501-5100 (Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm) or in-person at any Surrey recreation facility.
