Disposal Days is back!
From May 12 to 30, residents can drop off their recyclables, garbage and household items for free or at discounted rates at both the new Central Surrey and North Surrey Recycling and Waste Centres.
Eligibility & Limits
- Surrey residents only. Proof of address and driver’s licence will be required
- Limit 1 trip per household
- Limit of 4 mattresses/box spring units per household
- All loads must be off-loaded by hand
- Self-tipping vehicles are not permitted
- Commercial vehicles will not be permitted for the event (no business decals)
- Rented vans and trucks are allowed (example: rental moving company vehicles)
- All loads must be secured (inside vehicle or secured in a tarp for trucks and trailers)
- Central Surrey facility vehicle restrictions:
- Maximum vehicle length: 7.6 m (25 ft)
- Maximum vehicle and trailer length: 9.1 m (30 ft)
Reduced Fees
- Drop-off will be free for loads weighing 300 kg or under
- For loads exceeding 300 kg and up to 1,000 kg, the disposal rate will be reduced by 50%
Loads exceeding 1 tonne (1,000 kg) will be charged the full tipping fee and will not be eligible for the free or 50% reduced tipping fee disposal options.
Recycling
- Recycling must be separated and placed in appropriate bins.
- Recycling material will not count towards the 300 kg free disposal and is to be unloaded before weighing your vehicle for garbage.

Accepted as recycling (free year-round)
- Electronics: computers, batteries, TVs, extension cords, cell phones, small appliances, power tools, exercise equipment, outdoor power equipment
- Lighting products: light bulbs and tubes, lighting fixtures, string lights
- Packaging and Paper: Styrofoam, cardboard, glass jars, cardboard, paper, plastic bags
- Metal: large appliances, scrap metal, metal packaging
- Reusable materials: clothing and books
- Oil: cooking oil, used oil, oil filters
- Rigid plastic (plastic codes 2 & 5): storage containers, patio furniture, large plastic toys, laundry baskets, trash and recycling bins, reusable food storage containers, reusable water bottles
- Pesticides (must be in original labelled container. Limit 10L per container)
- Gasoline (must be in approved ULC container. Limit 25L per container)
- Paint products and solvents
- Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
- Thermostats
- Propane tanks
- Mattresses* and box springs* (max 4 units per household)
- Gypsum * (must be separated, properly contained and disposed of as recycling)

Accepted as garbage/paid recycling
- Furniture: couches, chairs, tables, bed frames, dressers, rugs, etc.
- Household renovation waste: sinks, toilets, vanity, cabinetry, flooring, carpet, windows, insulation, wood (please keep clean wood separate from dirty/waste wood)
- Outdoor: patio furniture, hoses, sports equipment
- Non-recyclable plastic

- Clean wood
Unaccepted Items
- Hazardous construction waste: no asbestos containing materials, plaster, joint compound, ceiling tiles, vermiculite, old chimney bricks, explosives, or ammunition
- Commercial waste: no dirt, rocks, sand, concrete, asbestos containing materials, or unidentified waste from commercial properties
- Hazardous household waste: no flammable liquids, or helium tanks
- Other unaccepted items: no animal waste, animal carcasses or car parts
- Materials banned from the garbage
