Performers
Argel MDR
Argel MDR (Argel Monte de Ramos) is a Filipino-Canadian singer-songwriter and musical theatre performer based in Surrey, Canada. Known for his soulful voice and emotional storytelling, his music blends influences from Sam Smith, One Republic, and OPM. His single Sail Away landed on multiple Spotify editorial playlists, earning him recognition as a rising artist.
An award-winning performer, Argel was one of the CBC Searchlight Finalists in 2021, Excellence Award by a BIPOC Artist and was nominated for Pop Artist of the Year at the Fraser Valley Music Awards. In theatre, he won an Ovation Award for Outstanding Performance and has starred in productions like Seussical, Elf! The Musical, and the upcoming Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
Beyond music and theatre, Argel is an advocate for diversity and inclusion, using his platform to uplift immigrant and marginalized communities.

Ayla Telser-Mabé
Ayla Tesler-Mabé is a 23-year-old songwriter, producer, educator, and musician. Beginning her musical journey on the cello, then bass, and eventually settling on guitar, Ayla skyrocketed to online success when her YouTube cover of "Since I've Been Loving You" by Led Zeppelin blew up when she was 15 years old.
Since then, Ayla has performed for thousands of people around the world, touring extensively with her previous band Calpurnia between the ages of 16 and 18. More recently, her alternative R&B band Ludic released their first full EP in 2022 and opened for Grammy award-winning artists Brittany Howard and Snarky Puppy.
Ayla has also collaborated with many music industry leaders, most notably co-writing and featuring on a song by Willow Smith, performing their song "Come Home" together on stage in New York City. Her creative approach to music has led Ayla to work closely with notable guitar brands such as Ernie Ball and Fender, being instrumental in multiple new product launches. Her undying passion and respect for music as a communication tool have also led Ayla to share her appreciation and understanding of music with others, garnering millions of views on her educational videos.
Last year, Ayla kicked off her solo career with a groovy and soulful series of singles leading up to her debut EP, "Let Me Out!!", released in autumn 2023. Ayla is now working towards her sophomore EP, leaning into a more psychedelic, rock-oriented sound with her sparkling single, "Am I".

Brass Camel
Brass Camel is a unique Vancouver-based rock group whose singular sound mashes together the diverse influences of prog, funk and rock music. The band's musicianship, songwriting and work ethic have led to endorsements from such companies as Sabian, Rotosound UK and Vater and the group has performed over 120 concerts since the release of their debut album "Brass" in late 2022. Among these shows are two successful national tours of Canada, numerous summer festivals including Between the Peaks, Starbelly Jam, and Wapiti Festival, and performances in such esteemed venues as Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom and Vogue Theatre as well as a headline performance at Toronto's historic Longboat Hall. Working with multiple Juno winner Ben Kaplan, the group has completed the recording of a second full length LP which shows a remarkable development in the group's writing and arrangement abilities. With a mid April release date, the group seeks to further expand the audience for their strange brew.

CocoLarosa
Hailing from Surrey BC, folk singer/songwriter CocoLarosa is a marine mechanic by day, and troubadour of unquestionable dexterity in the verbal arena by night! Known for his passionate performances and high caliber lyricism, he regularly performs showcases and at festivals across the lower mainland. His music is enjoyed by fans of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, Chris Stapleton, and John Moreland.
Exploring themes of nostalgia, desperation, and sass, Coco is quick to draw listeners in with his rhythmically bombastic and lyrically driven storytelling. “I speak directly from the heart of my life experiences to stir up emotion and connect with people in all walks of life.” says Coco.
In January 2024 Coco released “Bottom of the Slough,” his first studio track backed by a full band. Bouncy baselines and stunning choral harmonies accompany CocoLarosa’s gritty vocals in this upbeat Indie Americana track. Recorded at 5 Feet Under Studios in Surrey. In the summer of 2024 CocoLarosa won the Fraser Valley Music ‘People’s Choice Award,’ and was also nominated for the FVMA Folk/Roots Artist of the Year.

Chani Nattan & Inderpal Moga
Chani Nattan and Inderpal Moga have made history with their JUNO Award nomination for “COOLIN” in collaboration with Jazzy B, in the new South Asian Music Recording of the Year category. Their nomination highlights their influence and the increasing representation of South Asian artists on local and national levels.
DJ A-Slam & Lady Sinncere
Lady Sinncere and A-SLAM are two up-and-coming Vancouver MCs. Lady Sinncere is known in her community for her spoken word and cultural work, and A-SLAM is an established DJ and Juno-Nominated music producer. During the lockdown, they started working on several songs, culminating in Lady Sinncere’s debut album “Northwest Coast Story.” The album launched in 2024, under A-SLAM’s label, GPS Music, with several high-energy and impactful music videos. In creating the album, Lady Sinncere explains, “I was inspired to write after learning about the number of our children that were killed and put into mass graves. This album celebrates how we, as Indigenous People, survived the genocide against our people and the systematic murder of our children and our culture, our holocaust: Residential Schools. We came through strong and resilient, and we’re still here. We made it through the Dark Night.”
Empanadas Ilegales
Vancouver-based psychedelic cumbia and salsa ensemble Empanadas Illegales delivers contagious cumbia rhythms, hypnotic guitar melodies, and experimental salsa trumpet lines to create a Latin surf-rock/free-jazz fusion. Their latest full length album, Creepy Mambo, pays homage to cumbia cult classics infusing a vintage vibe with contemporary synth, slinky dub grooves, and feverish percussion departures.

Ginalina with Sun Moon Lake Trio

Glisha is a Surrey-based Filipino-Canadian artist who effortlessly blends together the worlds of Pop, RnB, and Folk with her lyrically-charged songs and warm vocal tones. Glisha’s work displays her storytelling through her songwriting, production, and lush vocal stacks. The rich textured tone of singer songwriter Hayley Wallis’ voice has an unmistakable confidence that is immediately recognizable. Hayley delivers a powerful emotional performance that evokes a response as dynamic as her vocal range. She is part of the Kitasoo/Xaixais Nation, originally from Klemtu, a small isolated island located in the heart of the Great Bear Rainforest in British Columbia. Karishma Deo
Karishma Deo is a Canadian-born singer-songwriter from Vancouver, Canada. She studied songwriting and composition from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA, and has trained in Indian classical music, western vocals and music theory since she was 10 years old. Kyle Bhawan
Kyle has been updating a playlist every Sunday on Spotify for 460 weeks in a row and boom, just like that, he's become a part-time DJ. The Surrey native's appreciation for the aux cable in a Honda Civic has led him to appearances behind the turntables at the Vancouver Art Gallery, Fortune Sound Club, B-Side Radio & the occasional Studio party. The Full-Time podcast producer will always credit music curation and local sounds for taking him to where he is today.
Kylie V
Kylie V can level you with a single note. With their operatic voice and appetite for the devastating, Kylie’s discography is a blast of sonorous and explosive indie folk. Ranging from twisted tranquility to cataclysmic crescendoes, over a terrain of barest honesty and intricate rhythms, they capture the tender perils of love, loss, and sacrifice in evocative poetry. Luca Fogale

Mohamed Assani
Mohamed Assani is a sitarist and composer, known for his genre-defying approach to music making. Trained in Indian/Pakistani, classical music, Western classical and jazz, his music-making seamlessly draws from different genres and cultures with depth and authenticity. Mohamed was twice nominated (in 2021 and 2022) as ‘Instrumental Artist of the Year’ for the Western Canadian Music Awards.
In Wayfinder Mohamed takes his sitar in a completely new direction—bringing together unforeseen musical worlds that relentlessly pushes at the frontiers of cultural and musical hybridity. Using a contemporary sound palette, Wayfinder incorporates South Asian, Middle Eastern, jazz, Western, ambient & electronic music.

Pat Chessell is a Canadian folk artist known for his rich, storytelling lyrics and energetic performances. RAEDIAMENDZ, hailing from Surrey, BC Canada draws inspiration from her Fijian heritage, 90’s culture, and Bollywood, all of which shaped her passion for music and dance. RAE was born with Single Sided Deafness (SSD), which made life challenging, but she never let it hinder her love for music. At 13, she was creating mixes for her dance teams and this passion led her to transform into a DJ. Her love for music has only grown stronger over the years, creating an energetic and fun vibe in any room is something she’s always loved to do. For RAE, it’s not just about playing music, it’s about bringing people together and making every moment unforgettable!
RAEDIAMENDZ has since become a prominent DJ in Vancouver, spinning at major venues, collaborating with artists and playing music festivals. As a multi-genre artist, Rae takes her audience on a global musical journey, with Missy Elliot as her biggest inspiration, encouraging her audience to embrace their uniqueness. Sarah McLachlan School of Music
Sarah McLachlan School of Music has a new program in New Westminster at Douglas College. These students have only been together since Nov, but have already been exploring different instruments, performing, and songwriting. This ensemble features one of the Junior Music Development bands, with students from grades 4-7, as well as some of our high school soloists and one of our Alumni from the Surrey program. At SoM we provide free music lessons to youth who may not be able to access music education. We are accepting new students and can get more information about our programs from our booth outside.
Sarbjit Cheema
Sarbjit Cheema, prominent Punjabi singer, is known for his significant contributions to Punjabi music in both India and Canada. Over the years, he has released numerous successful albums, including Chandigarh Shaher Di Kuddi, and is known for his dynamic performances of Bhangra beats.
Sadé Awele
Sadé Awele is a Vancouver-based artist of Nigerian heritage, blending Afrosoul and R&B into a sound that’s as captivating as it is intentional. Recently crowned R&B Artist of the Year at the 2024 Western Canadian Music Awards, she continues to make waves, from gracing the stage at Road to the Junos to touring across Canada and Europe. With melodies that linger and songwriting that speaks to the soul, Sadé effortlessly fuses her culture into every aspect of her artistry—whether through the rich textures of her music or her distinct fashion sense. She’s the kind of artist who can turn heartbreak into a rhythmic celebration, creating music that resonates deeply yet makes you move. Her latest EP, Intuition, is a testament to her evolution—an experience that’s both timeless and undeniably fresh.
Shawnee Kish
Shawnee Kish's powerful soul voice is why hearing her is a one-of-a-kind experience. Shawnee's journey in music has been one that she attributes to her strength, survival, and inspiration during her struggle coming out as Two Spirit and her struggle with depression as a child.
The Mohawk singer-songwriter from Canada was a 2022 JUNO nominee for Contemporary Indigenous Artist of the Year, tied to her acclaimed self-titled debut EP. In 2023, she released her highly anticipated follow-up EP, Revolution, which landed her another Two JUNO nominations in Adult Alternative Album Of The Year, and Contemporary Indigenous Artist Of The Year. Revolution features her powerhouse vocals and introspective songwriting, as well as songwriting and production collaborations with industry luminaries, including Arkells frontman Max Kerman, Serena Ryder, Sara Quin of Tegan & Sara, and Dan Wilson (Adele, Taylor Swift).
She was the winner of CBC Music's Searchlight competition in 2020 and was subsequently one of the winners of the Allan Slaight JUNO Master Class program for artist development in 2021. A voice of determined passion, Shawnee is driven by empowering youth around her to use music and continues to honor healing and empower strength using her journey in music. Shawnee was the creator of "Music Is My Medicine," a symphonic work performed by Shawnee and the National Arts Centre Orchestra in Ottawa for the CBC Gem show Undisrupted, highlighting the voices, stories of struggle, and talents of indigenous youth.
Shawnee works closely with Kids Help Phone and, in 2023, participated in an all-star recording of Serena Ryder's single "What I Wouldn't Do", released as a charity single to benefit Kids Help Phone's Feel Out Loud campaign for youth mental health.

Since 2015, Sleepy Gonzales has taken their sound from their hometown of Surrey to New York, Downtown LA, Tokyo Japan, Mexico City, and many places in between. Growing up in Newton and Fleetwood, Sleepy Gonzales is as Surrey as it gets.

Formerly known as Eleven09 and later Apartment1109, the band has been a staple in the BC music scene, captivating audiences with their engaging stage presence and polished musicianship.
As the official house band of FUSIONpresents, The Apartment is at the heart of some of the most interactive live music experiences in the lower mainland. They are well known for their Live Band Karaoke performances at the Vancouver Fringe Festival’s Fringe Bar, where they give audience members the chance to be the star—singing their favourite songs backed by a professional jam band. This event has become a must-see highlight of the festival, drawing in music lovers and aspiring vocalists alike.
Beyond the Fringe Festival, The Apartment has taken the stage at major venues such as the Hard Rock Casino and has also been a proud supporter of Surrey Pride, performing at events that celebrate inclusivity, diversity, and the power of music to bring people together. Their original music has also made waves, with past releases including "I Wanna Be Cool" and "Looking for Love" featuring vocalist Khyla Granstrom.

Born and raised in Surrey, two-time JUNO Award-nominated country star Tyler Joe Miller is set to ‘go home’ and perform for his hometown fans.
Miller’s acclaimed album Going Home has been nominated for Country Album of the Year at the 2025 JUNO Awards, marking his second consecutive nomination after first being recognized in 2024.
