Connect to the natural world while listening for frog songs, bird tweets, tree percussion and mushroom music during this interactive family-friendly concert. Vancouver-based performer and composer Ruby Singh (aka Ruploops) mixes samples of plant and animal environments native to BC with music ranging from hip-hop to contemporary fusions of classical ragas. Using vocal percussion, rhythmic rhymes, and an arsenal of eclectic instruments from around the world this unique performance will excite young minds as they explore the creative connection between humans and nature.

About the artist
When it comes to entertaining audiences of all ages, RupLoops has the job on lock. The brainchild of Juno nominated, Vancouver-based Ruby Singh, RupLoops is known for delivering highly engaging, interactive experiences using vocal percussion, live looping and instruments from around the world. Welcomed on stages around the globe as an interdisciplinary artist, musician, producer, and composer, he is credited for delving deeper into the opportunity of educating as he entertains through his passion for blending and amplifying intercultural sounds. He works across genres, drawing from folk and classical forms from around the globe. As a community arts facilitator, he encourages and inspires kids to express themselves through music. He has taught percussion and hip-hop for the past 17 years at the Sarah McLachlan School of Music and he co-founded Metaphor, which brings hip-hop performances and empowerment workshops into youth detention centers, schools and rural communities. Ruploops is a one-man-band who layers harmonies, beatboxing, instruments and raps with a hip-hop style that young people relate to.
