Lyn Verra-Lay's art journey has very often come from, and included, connections to her community. Whether exhibiting in a gallery, donating artwork to a worthy cause, or using green practices while creating, community engagement is an important aspect of her practice.

Her hand-dyed scarves fit into all these categories. Playing with colour combinations and different kinds of resists, she creates vibrant, wearable art pieces with silk, linen, and cotton. Verra-Lay will talk about the different dyeing techniques she uses, how to upcycle clothing with dyes, and some of her work sharing art in the Surrey community.

After the talk, there will be opportunities to participate in a simple dyeing activity and create a winter solstice piece to take home.
