About Surrey City Orchestra

The Surrey City Orchestra (SCO), under the direction of conductor Stuart Martin, performed its first concert in March of 2018 for the SFU President’s Gala, and has since performed for many public and private events such as the Fusion Festival, Party for the Planet, and local business gatherings. The Orchestra has collaborated with choirs such as the Kwantlen Polytechnic University Chorus, the Vancouver Bach Choir and the Surrey Children’s Chorus, as well as dance groups that include the Central Dance Academy, Hanyang Arts Society and the Kvitka Ukrainian School of Dance.

The orchestra recently gained extensive attention from a self-produced video of ‘O Canada’, where 28 members of the orchestra recording themselves in various location in Surrey, playing a masterful arrangement of our national anthem by Claude Lapalme. The video was featured on Global and CITY news programs and played nationally on CBC Radio 2 as well as articles in newspapers across the country.
