Broken Social Scene, Crown Lands and Neon Dreams to perform at Surrey Canada Day 2023
Surrey Canada Day, presented by Prospera Credit Union, will return to Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre on Saturday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m.
Surrey, B.C. – Surrey Canada Day, presented by Prospera Credit Union, will return to Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre on Saturday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Headlined by Canadian creative collective and indie-rock band Broken Social Scene, the signature free event will also feature performances by Crown Lands and Neon Dreams. Additional programming includes Indigenous cultural sharing on the Siam Stage, family entertainment on the Kid’s Stage, and local dance performances, dance lessons, and DJs on the Community Stage.
“On behalf of Surrey City Council, it is my pleasure to invite residents and visitors to come be a part of the largest Canada Day event in Western Canada,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Attendees can enjoy a full day of free entertainment, including performances by Broken Social Scene, Crown Lands, and Neon Dreams, as well as fireworks, amusement rides, family activities, and food trucks. Canada Day is a time to both celebrate and reflect on this great country we call home and there is no better place to do that than at Surrey’s Canada Day party. I hope to see you all there.”
Broken Social Scene is a Toronto-based ensemble whose flexible lineup has included some of the best-known musicians from Canada’s music community. Once a two-person basement recording project, multi-JUNO award winners Broken Social Scene come to life onstage, with each concert providing a unique experience. Crown Lands are multi-instrumentalists, a powerhouse progressive-rock duo, and won the 2021 JUNO award for Breakthrough Group of the Year. Also JUNO award winners, Neon Dreams produce danceable, uplifting songs about overcoming adversity.

On July 1st, attendees will have the chance to deepen their understanding of the land they call home and the true history of Canada through workshops in the Indigenous Village, educational activities, and cultural sharing. The event will also feature food trucks, amusement rides, a kid’s zone, exhibitors, and a fireworks finale.
The City of Surrey is honoured to hold this event on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Salish Peoples, including the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), and sǝmyámǝ (Semiahmoo) land-based Nations.
