Surrey, B.C. – Providing tools for older adults to remain independent as they navigate different stages of life is the theme of the upcoming 55+ Housing Forum. Hosted by the City of Surrey, the free event will take place at Guildford Recreation Centre on Mar. 15, 2025, and will provide valuable information on the variety of housing supports and services for older adults.

“Whether it is aging in place or moving to a retirement community, there are a number of housing options for today’s seniors,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “The Housing Forum will help equip seniors with the knowledge, options, and services they need to help them thrive. The City of Surrey is committed to creating an age-friendly community where all residents have access to the support they need to live healthy, independent lives.”

The forum will have expert presentations and cover a wide range of topics, including programs that help older adults age in place, housing choices designed to meet the evolving needs of seniors, and support services that promote independence and well-being.

"The Housing Forum provides an opportunity for older adults to access information on the wide range of housing supports and services that are available throughout various life stages,” said Sahra-Lea Tosdevine-Tataryn, Age Friendly Project Manager for the City of Surrey. “Through education and awareness individuals can access resources so that they can make informed decisions about their housing needs."

The City of Surrey’s commitment to fostering an age-friendly community is reflected in its Age-Friendly Strategy & Action Plan: surrey.ca/agefriendly.
