Statement from Mayor Doug McCallum: Do Your Part to Fight the Second Wave
"As B.C.’s second largest city, it is important that we bear down to fight the second wave of COVID-19."
As B.C.’s second largest city, it is important that we bear down to fight the second wave of COVID-19. All of us in Surrey must take personal responsibility to bend the curve. That means there is a strong expectation that masks be worn in all indoor public spaces. Due to the rapid rise of cases in the Fraser Health region, it is imperative that social gatherings at home are limited to the members of your household, and it goes without saying that if you feel sick, stay home.
As we all do our part to stop the spread of COVID-19, we know that our best defence is keeping a distance from those outside our households. It is equally important that we continue to take care of our seniors and those living with disabilities. So, do make an effort to regularly call and check in on your family, friends, and neighbours as we head into the cooler months. Offer to safely deliver groceries, pick up medication, or just let them know you are thinking of them. If we act individually for the good of the whole, we can and will get through this.
