Surrey BC – Surrey's Cloverdale Agriplex is getting a major upgrade. The historic venue, which hosts the second largest rodeo in Canada, will soon be more accessible thanks to a $1 million investment from the Province of British Columbia under the Destination Development Fund. The upgrades will also make the facility a more versatile, one-of-a-kind event hosting site able to accommodate a wider range of events, from sports tournaments to trade shows and more.

"I am thrilled to receive this funding that will enable us to renovate the Cloverdale Agriplex and provide a multi-use venue that meets the needs of our community and attracts more visitors,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “We are excited to see the positive impact these upgrades will have on our community and the growth of the event hosting and tourism industry in Surrey."

The Province of British Columbia has announced $30 million to enhance existing tourism infrastructure throughout the province. Surrey’s funding will be used to re-level the floor of the Agriplex building and enhance the parking lot and entrances to be fully accessible, allowing the venue to meet standards and attract more diverse events.

“Our government is proud to support the tourism sector, the people who work in it, and its sustained recovery,” said Lana Popham, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport. “By supporting the Cloverdale Agriplex, we are investing in tourism infrastructure to strengthen a year-round visitor economy and increasing community vibrancy for residents and visitors alike."

Once completed, the Cloverdale Agriplex upgrades will significantly expand Surrey's competitiveness in the event hosting destinations sector, making the City of Surrey a top choice for local diverse events. Construction is expected to being this fall, with completion expected by end of 2024.
