Peer Mentorship
Surrey preteens build leadership skills and create a community project.
Peer Mentorship provides preteens (ages 10-12) with an opportunity to empower themselves and others, in a safe and nurturing environment, that is open to everyone.
Groups play interactive games and age-appropriate activities alongside peers, youth mentors and staff. We work together to create a project around an important community topic that we identified as a group, while developing teamwork and communication skills.
Current Programs
Clayton Community Centre - Drop-in
Mondays from 4:00-6:00pm running January 22 to March 11.
Previous Programs
The program has included leadership training sessions, team-building exercises, and networking events at various schools including Martha Currie Elementary and Don Christian Elementary. These events have helped participants develop their communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
Participants report that the events helped them build new relationships and develop a stronger sense of community. Many take on leadership roles and make a positive difference in their community.
