Park information

R.A. Nicholson Park is a 1.5 hectare (3.67 acre) neighbourhood park in the Strawberry Hill neighbourhood of west Newton. This park connects from 75A Avenue down to the Strawberry Hills shopping mall and the Strawberry Hill Library. You'll find a playground at the north end of the park, with a nice open grass area, pathways and the Strawberry Hill Hall in the portion of the park south of 75 Avenue.

Strawberry Hill Hall

Strawberry Hill Hall was built in 1909. It is an excellent example of early 20th century agriculture architecture and serves as a testament to the success of the agriculture community in Surrey.

Park Improvements

Construction of the new play area is compete and it is now open. Upgrades to the Hall are underway. The City will be working to move the Hall back from the intersection a few metres onto a new perimeter foundation and to renovate it as per a Conservation Plan prepared for the building.

The renovated hall will include Before and After School Care, licensed daycare and hall rentals for community events. The Strawberry Hill Hall project also includes a new play area, which will serve the daycare as well as the public. The new play area is located in the parkland south-west of the hall.

In June 2019, we presented project information at an open house. Feedback was collected through comment forms at the open house and online after the event.
