Park information

Whippletree Park is a new 0.25 hectare (0.6 acre) neighbourhood park that is located in South Newton near the corner of 62 Avenue and 138 Street. Archibald Creek runs through the park from the south, before joining the Serpentine River and eventually flowing into Mud Bay.

Park Planning

The City of Surrey undertook a park planning process including planning for protection of the creek, design, development and operation of the future park. The Whippletree Park plan was guided by community feedback through various public engagement opportunities following the completion of an environmental assessment.

In February 2021, residents were invited to take part in an online survey to help guide the planning and naming of the park. The park was temporarily called 72K Greenbelt in South Newton, before the community decided on the name Whippletree Park. The information we gathered helped us develop a vision for the future of this park.

The survey generated a strong turnout, with nearly 1100 responses. Residents were excited for new active park space in their neighbourhood and showed support for all the proposed types of amenities.
