When and where is Party for the Planet?

Party for the Planet is held on Saturday, April 29 at Surrey Civic Plaza (13450 104 Ave) in Surrey, B.C. and is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Party for the Planet is situated on the on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territories of the Salish Peoples, including the q̓ic̓əy̓ (Katzie), q̓ʷɑ:n̓ƛ̓ən̓ (Kwantlen), and Semiahma (Semiahmoo) land-based nations.

What COVID-19 restrictions will be in place for the event?

Party for the Planet will meet health and safety guidelines as set out by the Provincial Health Officer, Worksafe BC, Fraser Health and appropriate industry associations. 

Do I need tickets to get into the festival?

No! Party for the Planet offers free admission. Entrance is permitted on a first come, first served basis and is subject to capacity restrictions.

How do I get to the festival?

  • SkyTrain: The Surrey Central SkyTrain station is right next door, with Expo Line trains running approximately every 6 minutes.
  • Bus: Surrey Civic Plaza is right beside the Surrey Central Bus Loop. Plan your trip using Translink’s Trip Planner.
  • Driving: Limited free parking is available in Parking Level 1 and 2 of Surrey City Hall.
  • Cycling: Route options include major street bike lanes and shared lanes. The Bicycle Valet will be on site monitoring and parking bikes in bike racks located by the library on University Drive.

Is there a calm, safe area to take my child if they feel overwhelmed?

The City of Surrey has partnered with the Canucks Autism Network to offer sensory friendly kits for anyone looking to accommodate sensory processing needs during the event. 

Are there any accessibility features?

Yes, the entire site is accessible. This includes accessible vehicle access, washrooms, and wayfinding information. 

What items are prohibited?

Prohibited items include:

  • Pets
  • Drugs or alcohol
  • Any weapon or item that can be used as a weapon

*Additional items may be deemed prohibited or illicit as per event security.

Is smoking permitted?

No, smoking and vaping of any substance is not permitted on Surrey Civic Plaza.

Where do I park?

Free parking is available on P1 and P2 of the parkade below Surrey City Hall.

Are there food and drinks available?

Party for the Planet offers many vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free food and beverage options on University Drive. Food and drink must be consumed within the “University Drive” area. 

How will Party for the Planet handle waste?

The City of Surrey has hired Green Chair Recycling–a locally owned waste management enterprise–to provide waste reduction solutions at the event. Food trucks will use only compostable food and serving containers. Single-use plastic is not permitted at the event. Green Chair will maximize Party for the Planet’s waste diversion rate by educating the public on waste sorting and ensuring there is no cross-contamination of waste products. Organic waste from the event will be delivered to the Surrey Biofuel Facility, which will then be turned into fuel for Surrey’s waste fleet.

What are my payment options on site?

Party for the Planet encourages touchless debit and credit payments throughout the festival, at the food trucks and at Sustainable Marketplace vendors.
