The City tests water meters to ensure accurate billing. Learn about the test results.

Surrey implements a quality assurance program to ensure the metered billings are accurate and equitable. Each meter is tested in the factory before they are installed in water consumer’s properties.

An ongoing meter testing program, performed in accordance with the America Water Waste Association, is conducted to ensure that the meter readings remain accurate within the provision of City’s Water Bylaw, which stipulates the accuracy of meters shall be between 95% and 105%.

In 2012 and 2013, the City of Surrey tested 531 meters in single-family homes and 835 meters in multi-family and institutional, commercial and industrial properties. Below is the summary of results.
