See what you can dispose of at Metro Vancouver's Recycling and Waste Centres in Surrey.

There are two Metro-Vancouver operated Recycling and Waste Centres in Surrey. They are a convenient and economical way to dispose of or recycle renovation material, furniture, glass, metal, and propane tanks, and many other materials that may not be accepted in your waste carts.

Free Waste Drop-off

Cleaning up just got easier! From May 1 to September 25, Surrey residents can take advantage of free waste drop-off at Central Surrey and North Surrey Recycling and Waste Centres. Each household gets one trip up to 100kg and four mattresses.

What you need to know
  • From May 1 to September 25, Surrey residents can drop off waste for free (up to 100kg) at Central Surrey and North Surrey Recycling and Waste Centres.
  • Each household gets one free trip during this period, providing plenty of time for residents to utilize this service.
  • Free drop-off of 100 kg of garbage, furniture, green waste, clean wood, and gypsum
  • Acceptable Items: Bring electronics, metals, appliances, books, clothing, and up to four mattresses for free drop-off.
  • All acceptable recyclables such as electronics, metals, appliances, paint, books, antifreeze and clothing can be dropped off for free at any time.
Restrictions
  • Loads over 100kg are subject to regular fees above the free 100kg.
  • Proof of Surrey residency is required, limited to one trip per household.
  • Commercial and business vehicles are not permitted.

Central Surrey Recycling and Waste Centre

    Metro Vancouver and City of Surrey opened this facility in 2022 to increase the convenience of recycling and waste management for residents, reduce traffic and help to reduce illegal dumping.

    Materials accepted include:

    • Recyclable paper, metal, plastic and glass
    • Electronics
    • Gypsum
    • Paint and similar products
    • Bulky items such as mattresses, furniture, appliances and large electronic items
    • Yard trimmings, clean wood, and small quantities of food waste
    • Reusable materials such as clothing and books
    • Small quantities of garbage

      North Surrey Recycling and Waste Centre

      Surrey Transfer Station

      Materials accepted include:

      • Glass windows
      • Carpet
      • Building & demolition material
      • Painted or treated wood
      • Non-packaging plastic
      • Clean wood*

      *Separate clean wood from other materials before dropping off. Clean wood is defined as solid wood, lumber, and pallets that contain no paint, stains, glues, and chemical treatments. The wood may be pierced with nails or other metal fasteners like screws or staples.
