BC Youth Week is a provincial celebration of youth that is held on the first week of May every year. This week is an action-packed celebration that is intended for youth to build strong connections with their community.
The intention behind events like these is to highlight the interests, accomplishments and diversity of youth across the province of BC.
Wednesday, May 1
Drop-in ball hockey (ages 13 to 18)
6:15pm to 7:30pm at Cloverdale Arena
Get active in a fun non contact game of ball hockey! Join up with other players or come with friends to form a team. All skill levels and abilities welcome. Hockey gloves, stick, runners and CSA approved helmet with full cage required.
Video & board games tournament (ages 10 to 18)
4:00pm to 8:00pm at Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre
Are you tired of running around all day? Then come out for a night of video and board games. Bring yourself or come with a friend, and we will provide the rest.

Get active in a fun non contact game of ball hockey! Join up with other players or come with friends to form a team. All skill levels and abilities welcome. Hockey gloves, stick, runners and CSA approved helmet with full cage required.
Cooking competition (ages 10 to 18)
5:00pm to 8:00pm at Bridgeview Community Centre
Bring your love and passion for food to Bridgeview Community Centre, where you will be cooking up a 3 course meal against other foodies. Prizes for best and most creative dish!
Basketball tournament (ages 13 to 18)
7:00pm to 8:30pm at the South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre
Join us for a 3v3 Youth Mini Basketball Games. Teams of 3 will compete for a chance to win prizes. Pre-registration is required.
Friday, May 3
Baking and cookie decorating (ages 10 to 12)
5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Clayton Community Centre
Come bake and decorate cookies during preteen drop-in! We will also have gym time, board games and card games to play!
Youth cooking challenge (ages 10 to 12)
4:30pm to 6:30pm at the South Surrey Recreation & Arts Centre
Are you ready to turn up the heat and showcase your culinary skills? Join us for the Youth cooking challenge where aspiring young chefs can put their talents to the test in a thrilling cooking challenge! Complete the challenge in pairs and all ingredients will be supplied.

If you love basketball, join us for a night of music, food, and of course, basketball! Come on your own, or bring your team. Prizes and food will be provided.

Basketball tournament & Players lounge: Enjoy board games, NBA 2K24, snacks, and refreshments between games and half time.

Come and participate as a player in a recreational, non-contact hockey games. Full hockey gear required. All skill levels welcome. No slap shots allowed.

Glide into our youth only skate time! Bring your friends or make new ones on the ice. Equipment rentals available.
Video game showdown & s'mores (ages 10 to 18)
5:30pm to 7:30pm at Fraser Heights Recreation Centre
Show off your gaming skills during youth drop-in for a tournament and have some sweet treats. Challenge your friends, win some games and some prizes. Tournament starts at 5pm.

Join us for a 3v3 youth basketball tournament. Teams of 3 will compete for a chance to win prizes. Pre-registration is required. Drop-in welcome if space permits.
Crochet creations – social (ages 10 to 18)
3:30pm to 6:00pm at Fleetwood Community Centre
Learn the art of crochet while enjoying social time with peers. Participants will unleash their creativity with different yarns and patterns; showcasing completed works in a welcoming setting.
Saturday, May 4
Skateboarding demos and competition (ages 10 to 18)
4:00pm to 7:00pm at Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre
Join us for a demo and best trick contest. There will be prizes, music, snacks and refreshments.
Basketball tournament 3v3 (ages 13 to 18)
7:00pm to 9:30pm at Cloverdale Recreation Centre
Join us at Cloverdale Recreation Centre for a 3v3 youth basketball tournament. Teams of 3 will compete for a chance to win prizes. Pre-registration is required. Drop-ins welcome if space permits.
Bob Ross paint night (ages 13 to 18)
7:00pm to 9:30pm at Clayton Community Centre
Join us for a Bob Ross paint night! This will take place during our Saturday youth night, where you can cook and bake, play basketball or workout in the weight room!
Jewellery making (ages 13 to 18)
4:30pm to 6:30pm at Clayton Community Centre
Drop into the Art Studio and create a one-of-a-kind wearable art piece with your friends! Experiment with techniques, play with colour, materials, and hand-made art. Led by a Visual Arts Instructor, all materials included.

Join us for a Cheezy Sunday. Help make a gooey grilled cheese or mac and cheese. Take cheezy pictures with your friends.

Spin into this shared program time to practice your figure skating moves. All skill levels welcome. CSA approved helmets required. Adults or coaches are not required to be on ice but are welcome to supervise. Coaches must register and can instruct up to three youth per session.
Game show night (ages 10 to 13)
3:30pm to 6:30pm at Cloverdale Recreation Centre
Show off you gaming skills during preteen drop-in for a tournament. Challenge your friends, win some games and some prizes.
Fleetwood Frenzy – team challenge (ages 10 to 13)
3:30pm to 6:00pm at Fleetwood Community Centre
Participants are organized into 4 teams to compete in a series of mini-challenges including tug of war, relay obstacle courses, puzzles, and more. Prizes to be won!
SASSY Awards (all ages)
7:00pm to 10:00pm at Surrey Arts Centre
The SASSY Awards (Service Above Self Surrey Youth) is a partnership between the Semiahmoo Rotary Club and the City of Surrey.
