Holland Park has been called the “Central Park” of Surrey City Centre. The redevelopment of the park in the mid 2000s transformed it from a quiet and underutilized space to the contemporary urban park of today.
At 10 hectares (25 acres), Holland Park offers a variety of park amenities, including large sports fields, basketball courts, a playground (renovated in 2020) and lots of picnicking areas. The park is also home to the Holland Gardens, which include a large central amphitheater and water fountain. Parking and washrooms are also available, with access off King George Boulevard.
Every year, Holland Park hosts large community and city events including Fusion Festival, Movies under the Stars, and FVDED in the Park. In 2008, Holland Park was selected as a site for one of British Columbia’s Spirit Squares to celebrate the Province’s 150th anniversary. Holland Park was also one of Surrey’s celebration site during the 2010 Winter Olympic Games.
Public Art
View work by Bruce Voyce entitled Floraforms and Seeds of Change. These large-scale, elegant sculptures of flowers and seeds harmonize the urban and natural elements in Holland Park.
Nearby, find Glen Andersen's Pebble Mosaics. These mosaic artworks are based on mandala, wheel, and floral designs and reference cultural and natural motifs and are intended to enhance the park experience and complement nearby steel sculptures by Bruce Voyce. Glen Andersen's Were It Not For You also decorates the central fountain.
You will also find work by Artform Sculpture Studio entitled Protecting the Future, Serving the Present, a life-sized depiction of firefighters dedicated to Surrey firefighters.
Future Plans
The City has plans to expand Holland Park with additional amenities including a water park, tennis and volleyball courts, and an outdoor staging area to support large outdoor concerts and special events.
