Surrey, B.C. – The City of Surrey has been awarded $207,555 in grant funding from the Government of Canada’s 2 Billion Trees program to plant about 35,000 new native trees in the community.

“We are grateful for this funding support from the 2 Billion Trees program,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “A healthy and thriving urban forest is vital to our community. The funds will be used to replace grass and invasive plants with tens of thousands of new trees in our community. These trees will help provide shade, cleaner air and access to nature, as well as mitigating the effects of climate change.”
