Surrey, B.C. - Surrey Canada Day, presented by Prospera Credit Union, hosted over 70,000 attendees throughout the day at Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre in Cloverdale this past Saturday. Attendees enjoyed a day of free live performances by headliners Broken Social Scene, Crown Lands and Neon Dreams, followed by a fireworks finale sponsored by Guildford Town Centre. The event also featured cultural sharing from Kwantlen and Semiahmoo First Nations.

“With attendance of over 70,000, Surrey Canada Day showcased the vibrancy of our diverse community,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Through captivating performances by Broken Social Scene, Crown Lands, Neon Dreams and cultural sharing from Kwantlen and Semiahmoo First Nations, we came together to reflect, connect and honour the land we live on. Surrey is a City that celebrates our rich diversity and inclusivity, and we are made all the stronger for it.”

The Indigenous Village provided attendees with an opportunity to connect, reflect and learn about the rich heritage and traditions of Indigenous Peoples. Through cultural sharing, education, contemporary performances, a Bannock vendor, and an Indigenous market, participants gained a deeper understanding of the true history of Canada.

"It was so wonderful to celebrate Canada Day with the City of Surrey," said TJ Schmaltz, Chief People and Legal Officer at Prospera Credit Union, "Our volunteers had a great day chatting with attendees, handing out cool treats and enjoying the diverse entertainment. It was truly a wonderful event."

The annual event featured live performances on four stages, amusement rides, dance battles, an Indigenous Village, community booths, a sensory friendly space, and food trucks. Additional activities included dance battles and performances by local DJs in the Community Hub presented by Chalo! Fresh Co.

Event attendees are invited to provide their feedback on the event by taking an online survey for a chance to win a $250 gift card to Guildford Town Centre.
