Surrey, BC  Recognizing the importance of preserving and providing access to Surrey’s rich and diverse heritage, Surrey City Council has proclaimed the third week of February as Heritage Week in Surrey.

“Heritage brings people together, allows for the sharing of knowledge, defines our city’s unique character and connects us with our past, present and future,” said Mayor Doug McCallum. “This annual event will help shed light on the significant and important role heritage plays in our communities and I invite you to learn more about it.”

In celebration of this year’s Heritage Week (February 15–21, 2021), kicking off on Family Day, the City invites the public to safely explore the theme of “Where do you find heritage?” with a variety of online tools and activities, facility tours and outdoor activities.

Visit surrey.ca/museum for virtual tours of its feature exhibit, Nature’s Clothesline, or to book a free pre-registered, self-guided visit Wednesday to Saturday from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. Special family activities will also be offered online February 15.

Visit surrey.ca/stewartfarm to book a free 30-minute guided, outdoor visit Thursdays through Saturday, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Visits are limited to six people or less from the same household. Highlights include the 1894 farmhouse, the Pole Barn, heirloom gardens, root cellar, boat building and former threshing shred. Visitors can also experience the farm from home by taking a virtual tour of the farmhouse. Virtual Family Day activities will be offered online on February 15.
