Surrey, BC – Surrey Homelessness and Housing Society (SHHS) will be launching a call for proposals in early May aiming to support initiatives that will reduce and prevent homelessness in Surrey. Projects eligible for funding will focus on contributing to the longer-term housing needs of priority populations and building on continued efforts to mitigate the impact of COVID-19.

“On the heels of two funding calls in 2020, we are pleased to launch this additional call for proposals in response to the complex housing challenges caused by Covid-19,” said Councillor Laurie Guerra, President of the Surrey Homelessness and Housing society. “The grants will be available to eligible organizations operating in Surrey and will provide services to those who are unhoused or at risk of becoming unhoused. This is another step in the right direction as we work towards ensuring every Surrey resident has a roof over their head.”

More information regarding the call for proposals process, key funding priorities, and eligibility criteria will be posted and available on the SHHS website in the coming weeks.

About Surrey Homelessness and Housing Society

SHHS’ vision is that Everyone in Surrey has a Home. Since its inception in 2007, SHHS has granted over $7 million to support the development of Made in Surrey solutions – creating housing, programs, and partnerships that effectively respond to Surrey’s unique needs. In 2020, in response to COVID-19 magnifying the challenges facing priority populations, SHHS quickly launched two funding calls. As a result, $600,000 was granted to 30 local projects to help meet immediate needs of people experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness.
