We get that staying home this often wasn't part of your plan. You might be encouraged to work from home and stay away from public places, but this could mean long periods of time where there seems like there is nothing to do!

Let us help. Below are some suggestions for what you can do to make the most of your time.

  1. Jumpstart spring cleaning
Having a clean space can help you feel healthier and more productive. If you’re stuck at home, start with a deep clean of your house to reduce stress and reset your mind. Another great option is to reorganize areas of your living space like the kitchen, garage and closet.

  2. Learn a new skill
Now is the perfect time to let your creativity flow. Try your hand at painting, create a meal from scratch, fix up old items around the house, or start a new DIY project.

  3. Try at-home workouts
Social media has made it extremely easy to find workouts suited for at home. Search #homeworkout for some inspiration. Try to incorporate yoga into your daily routine to help support your mental and physical health.

  4. Finish a pending book
Grab a book that you’ve intended to but just didn’t have time. There are some great options for ebooks and audiobooks you can download with your library card. Learn how to get started with the online library.

  5. Catch up on your favourite shows/series
Grab yourself some popcorn, relax on the couch and enjoy your favourite TV shows or movies. Surrey Libraries gives you access to 10 free plays per month on Kanopy.

  6. Practice mediation and mindfulness
Meditation helps relieve stress. Not only does it help to control anxiety, but studies have shown that it helps enhance self-awareness, lengthen your attention and increase mental clarity and focus. Practice meditation for 15 minutes and transform your mood.

  7. Have a spa day
Fill your tub with warm water, bubbles, and settle in for a relaxing bath. Light a candle and put on some relaxing music for a spa day at home. Try applying a facial mask, give yourself a pedicure, or show some extra love with a DIY hair treatment.

  8. Take an online class or tutorial
Learn something new by taking an online class or tutorial. Explore new skills or boost your interest in a topic that fascinates you. Many online platforms offer classes suited for design, business, or lifestyle skills.

  9. Start a journal/blog
Dust off your writing skills and start a journal or a blog. Whether your goal is to promote yourself, start a new business venture or just do it for fun, blogging is an awesome way to create content you can always look back on.

  10. Spend time with your family
Have a wholesome chat with family. If you have a pet, take out time to feed, groom and bathe him. You can also go for a stroll to a park near you. All this will not only recharge for the day but will also make you feel happy and relaxed.
