Surrey, BC – Nominations are now open for the Civic Distinction Awards, which recognize Surrey’s community and business leaders for their exceptional work and contributions in a number of different categories. Nominations are open from March 1 to April 21, 2024, and winners will be honoured at an awards ceremony at City Hall in November.

“It is important to recognize the community members who are leading the way in making a positive impact in our city,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “I commend the dedication and passion of our citizens that are consistently working to build tight knit communities, inspire others and foster a culture of excellence. I look forward to honouring all the award recipients and seeing the excellent work they’ve been doing.”

The Civic Distinction Awards are part of Surrey’s ongoing commitment to programs and initiatives that support the City’s vibrant communities, promote excellence in urban development, protect and enhance the environment, support community wellbeing, encourage tourism and celebrate arts and heritage.

This year's Civic Distinction Awards recognize achievements in seven categories including: Beautification and Enhancement, Design, Environment, Heart, Arts and Heritage, Sport Tourism and Mayor’s Choice, which this year will recognize projects that celebrate diversity and build community. These awards take place every four years.
