"For the fourth consecutive year, the average property tax rate is proposed for 2.9%."

December 17, 2021

City Council is aware of the challenging and uncertain times we are in and that is why we are holding the line on property taxes. For the fourth consecutive year, the average property tax rate is proposed for 2.9%. We have kept the rate constant, which has consistently been among the lowest in Metro Vancouver, during our term in office to give our residents stability while delivering on new major public amenities and services. Many facets of this historic budget are a result of public input. The Surrey Police Board has embarked on extensive public consultation for the implementation and prioritization of safety initiatives, which is reflected in the 2022 budget. Public consultation throughout the year on major recreational projects has also been received that will result in significant new public amenities built into the upcoming budget. I want to thank City Staff for stepping up in meeting Council’s request in delivering a fiscally prudent and responsible budget before the holiday break.
