Love Where You Live

Surrey, BC – Block Watch volunteers in Surrey are invited to show their love for where they live by organizing community clean-ups. Between September 12 and 30, 2021, registered Block Watch volunteers can join the Love Where You Live campaign and be entered into a draw to win a Block Party Prize Pack. The Block Watch group that succeeds in picking up the most litter will also be recognized with a trophy for their commitment to their neighbourhood.

“Block Watches play an important role in neighbourhoods by encouraging community safety and engagement,” said Mayor Doug McCallum. “We know that clean communities provide a safer and more welcoming environment for everyone, and I encourage all of Surrey’s Block Watches to come together for this friendly challenge, which also gives residents the opportunity to reconnect with their neighbours.”

As part of the Love Where You Live campaign, residents can organize and register neighbourhood clean-ups. The City of Surrey will support by picking up large and hazardous items, and arranging for the quick pick-up of any collected litter. Groups will also be provided clean-up equipment that includes litter pickers, bags and safety vests. This program is available to all residents, businesses, and schools.

For residents who do not represent a Block Watch group, organized clean-ups can be registered and entered into a monthly draw for a Family Backyard BBQ Prize Pack.
