REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

PURPOSE

The City of Surrey (the “City”) is seeking an experienced Insurance Broker (the “Consultant”) capable of being an advisor to effectively manage the City’s financial exposure to risk and representing the City’s risk to the commercial insurance market and achieving favourable rates of insurance on a consistent basis.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

CONTINGENT COMMISSIONS:

The City is committed to the principle that an independent brokers’ compensation for the placement of the City’s insurance be solely from the fees paid by the City. Brokers who receive contingent commissions or incentives based on volume, profitability of the book of business or any other funds, credits or rewards from any insurer, re-insurer, managing underwriter or wholesaler should disclose this in the RFP response. All commissions paid for placing business which is not part of the annual renewal program should be disclosed.

SCOPE OF SERVICES

The Services that the Consultant will provide to the City rely in part on facts, information and direction provided by the City. The parties agree to provide to each other with accurate and timely facts, information and direction as is reasonably required.

ADDENDA 

If the City determines that an amendment is required to this RFP, the City Representative will issue a written addendum by posting it on the BC Bid Website at www.bcbid.gov.bc.ca and the City Website at www.surrey.ca (collectively, the “Websites”), and upon posting, any addenda will form part of this RFP. It is the responsibility of Proponents to check the Websites for addenda. The only way this RFP may be added to, or amended in any way, is by a formal written addendum. No other communication, whether written or oral, from any person will affect or modify the terms of this RFP or may be relied upon by any Proponent. By delivery of a Proposal the Proponent is deemed to have received, accepted and understood the entire RFP, including any and all addenda.
