Surrey BC - The City of Surrey is proud to recognize Seniors Week from June 4–10. To celebrate, the City is offering a variety of free and low-cost activities from food and recreation, to history and art.

“Seniors bring a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience that enrich the lives of all our residents,” said Mayor Brenda Locke. “Let's take this week to celebrate their achievements and contributions to our city. Surrey’s Seniors Week celebration will feature art workshops to low-impact sports and educational sessions. There is something for everyone and for all ages to enjoy and take part in. I hope you will join us in celebrating our seniors.”

Take a public garden stroll at The Glades Woodland Garden and Darts Hill Garden Park, get creative with a family-friendly art day at the Surrey Art Gallery, or join in on low-impact lawn bowling and walking soccer. You can also attend exercise classes, and educational workshops on fraud and scams. And for those who prefer to stay at home, there will be online art classes and an Armchair Traveler series to explore the world from the comfort of your own home.

Most events are free or low cost to attend, and some require pre-registration. Visit surrey.ca/seniorsweek for more information.

City of Surrey is leading the way in supporting healthy active aging through its Age Friendly Strategy for Seniors, a framework that ensures seniors, families and caregivers are supported through advocacy, policy, partnering and service delivery.
