Park information

Within Kennedy Trail Park you'll find a neighbourhood playground, some walking trails and open green space ideal for an afternoon picnic.

The park is named after the Kennedy Trail, the first trail built by a settler in the Lower Mainland. The trail was constructed by James Kennedy in 1861 to provide a land route for settlers between New Westminster and Mud Bay. It is the source of considerable local history. The trail started on the south bank of the Fraser River, in the Annieville area, and ran through North Delta and West Newton, down to the Mud Bay area.

Kennedy Trail Park was established in the early 1980s in coordination with the development of the adjacent Kennedy Trail Elementary School.
