As a contemporary art museum focusing on work since 1975, digital media is a big part of what we do at Surrey Art Gallery.
From 1999 to 2019, our TechLab showed a wide array of digital art including artificial intelligence, interactive and immersive virtual environments, telerobotic sculptures and flash game installations, to name a few.
Open Sound was an exhibition program from 2008 to 2019 that introduced visitors to the amazing world of sound art. During these years, we held Sound Thinking event each fall that brought together artists, scholars, and researchers in sound studies.
UrbanScreen was the Gallery’s offsite venue from 2010 to 2022 that showed digital and interactive art on the west wall of the Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre.
